They forgot to found out if the world had enough stuff in it to provide 7 billion individuals with everything they thought they wanted. I think they forgot that there are also other animals in the world, and like it or not, human beings (and their beliefs) are also influenced by universal laws, for example gravity, despite - or in spite of - our infinite beliefs.
