Although Nick van der Leek has a background in economics, brand management and statistical analysis, for the past 5 years he has committed himself to his true passion - freelance photojournalism. He loves the combination of writing, which is inner-directed, and photography, which provides a sense of creative balance. Nick is a very prolific and versatile photojournalist with a client portfolio that includes Mercedes Benz, Harmony Gold, SKA, The Free State Provincial Government, The Blue Train and many others. Nick has written for an incredible portfolio of magazines, from sport (Ironman, Bicycling, Cycling Weekly, Tour de France magazine) to travel (Country Life, Go!, Getaway, South, Franschhoek Style) to high brow publications focused on IT, and economics (Financial Mail, Brainstorm, ABSA Capital magazine). He has photographed and/or interviewed numerous experts and celebrities, including Morgan Freeman, Miss World 2009, Gavin Hood, Cameron van der Burgh, Professor Tim Noakes, Ronnie Apteker, Derick Joubert and more. Nick has a broad range of interests, including travel writing, fashion and landscape photography, nutrition, finance and sports. His pursuit of insights is based on finding ways to inspire better, healthier and more meaningful living. He continues to investigate the divisive issue of fracking (a potential gamechanger in SA, but also a potential disaster), whilst maintaining regular contributions to Country Life, CAR and AbouTime magazines. Nick is also researching a non fiction novel on beliefs (WHY WE BELIEVE) and gradually developing a fictional swords and sandals science fiction story set in Scotland (BLOODLINE). To book a shoot, or share YOUR story, contact Nick at 084 44 11 4491 or email nickvanderleek[AT]gmail[DOT]com. You can also find him on Facebook.

Despite having two engineering degrees - civil and electro-mechanical - my brother elected to follow his passion - painting - full time. Being the great grandson of Tinus de Jongh, it was only natural that his artistic evolution would develop along similar lines. Casey's courage and consistency also played a huge role in inspiring me to follow my passion - into writing, photography and generally expressing myself artistically.
